FOOD STAMPS

What are Food Stamps?

Food Stamps are actually no longer "stamps", but today come in the form of an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card that you use like a credit or debit card at your local grocery store to buy food. The amount of money you will receive each month depends on your household size and income.

How do I Apply?

You'll need to gather the documents listed below and set up an appointment at your local Department of Family and Children's Services (DFACS) Office. Click here for a complete list of county DFACS offices.

You can obtain an application at the DFACS office, or click here to download and print a copy of the application (PDF file, requires the Acrobat Reader from Adobe).

A Pre-Screening Tool can be used to determine if you may be eligible to receive Food Stamp benefits. Note - The Pre-Screening Tool is not an application for Food Stamps. An application for Food Stamps must be made at your local Food Stamp Office. Click here to use the Pre-Screening Tool to determine is you qualify for Food Stamps.
